Volunteers play a vital part in Trillium House’s care. We welcome those who want to share their time and special talents to help our Residents and caregivers. Volunteers assist with any number of tasks ranging from preparing meals to cutting the grass.

If you are interested in providing volunteer support, please complete the form below and we will follow up with you in the next couple of weeks to discuss volunteer opportunities. If you know someone who might be interested in volunteering, please share this link with them.

About Us
Trillium House is a care facility located in Marquette, Michigan, providing on-site support to individuals receiving hospice care or in need of respite support (short-term care).

General Requirements
Individuals must be 18 years or older to volunteer. In addition, some volunteer positions may require a background check and TB test screening prior to volunteering. Trillium House reserves the right to deny or revoke volunteer privileges to anyone at any time when we determine it is in the best interest of our Residents and/or organization.

What and when

MORNING CARE SUPPORT VOLUNTEER: To assist care staff by undertaking specified activities that allow staff to spend as much time as possible in direct care interactions with Residents. Program: Care Support volunteers take on one of three regularly scheduled shifts to assist our staff. They perform duties such as cooking, feeding Residents, laundry, cleaning, and other facility-related tasks. Care Support volunteers DO NOT provide direct care to Residents for any of their personal needs such as bathing, toileting, or changes of clothes or bed linens. Care Support shifts are available seven days a week. Care Support volunteers are trained by staff on our emergency procedures and use of our household equipment. Care Support volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and undergo a background check that includes fingerprinting. Volunteers must also complete a tuberculosis screening provided by Trillium House.

WELCOME & OFFICE SUPPORT VOLUNTEER: To assist Trillium House by undertaking specified activities that allow staff to spend as much time as possible in direct interactions with Residents. Welcome & Office Support volunteers are scheduled on a regular basis to complete tasks that maintain an inviting nature for our facility to Residents, their loved ones, and visitors. These volunteers typically greet visitors at the reception desk and help them find Resident room or staff members; answer phone to provide general information, transfer calls to appropriate staff, and take messages; assist care staff with non-direct care requests from Residents and loved ones; provide beverages, snacks, reading materials, etc.; assist as requested with regular office functions such as filing, preparation of board and committee materials; and other tasks as requested and capable. Training will be provided on our emergency procedures and use of household equipment. Must be 18+, receive a background check with fingerprinting.

These tasks include but are not limited to: - Weekly mowing of our grounds including the use of a riding lawn mower and a corded electric mower for around the building. - Weekly weeding of the gardens, paver path around the gardens, the stones around the house and in the parking lot island, and around the main sign on Woodland Dr. - Re-mulching the gardens once in the spring and once in late fall. - Assist with the planting of new flowers in the gardens and in new gardens as the occur. - Spring and Fall general cleanup of the grounds. Must be 18 years of age or older and undergo a background check that includes fingerprinting.

SPECIAL SUPPORT VOLUNTEER: To assist Trillium House by undertaking specified activities that allow staff to spend as much time as possible in direct interactions with Residents. Special Support volunteers are contacted on an as needed basis to complete tasks that maintain our facility’s appearance for Residents, their loved ones, and visitors. These tasks include but are not limited to: maintenance of the house including touch-up, painting, small household repairs, assistance with fixing and maintenance of house equipment; assistance with small construction projects; maintenance of the grounds that require special skills and or tools; and other projects that develop over time. Special Support volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and undergo a background check that includes fingerprinting.
