Talking About Books is a two part series focusing on the benefits of talk about books. This kind of talk helps to build communities of readers, it helps to build confidence and encourage empathy, it scaffolds insight and shared understanding. Student awareness of what quality literature looks like sharpens through engagement with books that is informed by sharing their responses with others through talk. This kind of talk does not occur without help and practice.
