Federal Emergency Grants

Federal emergency grants are provided to UWF students through federal funding in accordance with specified federal guidelines.


ARP: American Rescue Plan (HEERF III) — Summer 2021

The American Rescue Plan (ARP) authorized the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) into law on March 11, 2021, providing monetary support to institutions of higher education to serve students and ensure learning continues during the COVID-19 pandemic. Like CRRSAA, guidance requires institutions to prioritize students with exceptional
need. Awarding and application submission began in Summer and Fall 2021.

Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Student Emergency Grant – Spring 2021

As an expansion of the CARES Act, the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA), 2021, was signed into law on Dec. 27, 2020. UWF received CRRSAA funds to offer financial aid grants to students. Unlike the CARES distribution, CRRSAA guidance requires institutions to prioritize students with exceptional need. These funds have been fully disbursed and the final reporting completed.

Federal CARES Act Student Emergency Aid – Spring 2020

The University of West Florida was allocated funds from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act which was passed by Congress on March 27, 2020. The CARES Act established and funded the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) to provide emergency financial aid grants to students. CARES funds have been fully disbursed and the final reporting completed.
