A water main near 23rd and Vine streets was damaged today and will require repair today and perhaps through tonight. During repairs, some customers in an area bounded by 22nd Street, 26th Street, Flora Avenue and Michigan Avenue may experience low or no water pressure.

To check whether you might be affected, visit www.kcwater.us and visit the "Outage Map" link on the right side of that page. Check the outages listed on the left side of the map screen to see if your location is in an outage area.

Sewer improvements will be starting in your neighborhood this spring, and representatives of the project team will be available tonight, Wednesday, March 27, to discuss plans to rehabilitate sewer mains, service lateral connections, and manholes.

Meet project team members and get answers to your questions at the Kansas City Regional Police Academy, 6885 NE Pleasant Valley Road, Kansas City, MO 64119, anytime from 6-7 p.m.

When complete, the project, formally known as the Birmingham Area 3 Inflow and Infiltration Reduction, will reduce the potential for basement backups, improve the capacity of the wastewater collection system, and reduce the volume of sewer overflows into local waterways.

Join us Tuesday, March 19, to meet the Birmingham 2 Inflow and Infiltration Reduction project team and learn about sewer improvements starting in the Northland this spring.

This project will rehabilitate sewer mains, service lateral connections and manholes to like-new condition. WATER MAIN AND HYDRANT WORK AT 85TH AN HOLMES WEDNESDAY.

KC Water crews will working on a water main and repairing a leaking fire hydrant valve near the intersection of 85th Street and Holmes Road beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

Traffic lanes will be closed during portions of this work. Avoid the area if you can, and watch for temporary detours. Keep yourself and crews safe. Drive with care when approaching and driving in the area.

Nearby water customers affected by the work are being notified. Others in the general vicinity may experience minor effects, such as noises, but water service and pressure should not be affected for most customers.

JOIN US FOR PANCAKES. Construction will begin soon on the 40th & Monroe Sewer Separation Project, and the project team is ready to tell you all about it. Please attend an open house anytime from 10 a.m.-noon next Saturday, Feb. 24, at Second Baptist Church, 3620 E. 39th St., Kansas City, MO 64128.

A lot is planned. We’ll be separating the combined sewer system in the neighborhood into separate storm and sanitary sewers. We also are making green infrastructure improvements that will lessen the frequency of sewer overflows into neighborhood creeks, minimize the potential for basement backups, and beautify the neighborhood, too.

On Feb. 24, The project team will be on hand to provide design updates, share the construction schedule, and answer any questions about what’s ahead. Come and go anytime from 10 a.m. to noon, but don’t be late. A complimentary pancake breakfast will be available—first come, first served.
