Which NFL Fans Are Most Likely To Start A Fight?

There’s nothing wrong with being passionate about your favorite NFL team, especially when you have a bet placed on a game. But what happens when fans in the stands get a little too passionate?

Viral TikTok videos of shoving matches, scuffles and fights breaking out in the stands have become a weekly occurrence this NFL season. As the season heats up, so too will tensions among fans, but which fans are most likely to hold their own when fists start flying?

Of course, you could always watch the games at home and gamble online, using a FanDuel no deposit promo code to try out the games for free, and without risking bodily injury.  After that you could even grab a bonus code at BetMGM or try your luck with an exclusive bonus code at Golden Nugget online.

We surveyed NFL fans around the country to find out which fan bases are the most likely to provoke a fight and which are most likely to keep the peace.

NFL Fan Altercations

According to respondents, when it comes to the biggest fight provokers in the NFL, the award goes to fans of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Not only do fans feel that Eagles fans are most likely to start a fight, but they’re also most likely to win one as well. Philadelphia might be known as “The City of Brotherly Love,” but apparently not when it comes to football.

Coming in at No. 2 is the Las Vegas Raiders. Earlier this season, a video of Raiders fans and Chargers fans exchanging blows went viral during a Monday Night Football game matchup. Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots and the Dallas Cowboys round out the top five list of “biggest provokers” in the NFL.

NFL Peacekeepers

It’s one thing to provoke a fight, but what about those fans who are determined to keep the peace and de-escalate a fight between fans? Well, that honorable award goes to none other than the Seattle Seahawks. Seahawks fans were followed closely by Minnesota Vikings fans who rank No. 2 in the “peacekeepers” category along with San Francisco 49ers (No. 3), Arizona Cardinals (No. 4) and Tennessee Titans fans (No. 5).

When it comes to picking a fight, fans may want to steer clear of going toe-to-toe with Philadelphia Eagles, Las Vegas Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills or Dallas Cowboys fans, which all rank in the top five for fans “most likely to win a fight.”

What consequences should these rowdy fans face for picking fights in the stands? According to respondents, 62% say fans who get into a fight during a game should be banned for life from attending NFL games. Overall, a majority (58%) also feel that the NFL should do more to prevent physical altercations from happening. Afterall, there won’t always be peacekeepers in the stands.

Methodology

In October 2021, we surveyed 2,000 self-reporting National Football League fans from around the country. 50% of respondents were male and 50% were female. The average age of respondents was 34 years old.
