(WASHINGTON)—During the rush hour commute, drivers in 13 states will hear radio ads this week urging them to contact their members of Congress and voice their support for the bipartisan transportation infrastructure bill.

The ad campaign, which will run for the next few weeks, asks voters to help break the political impasse on Capitol Hill that has been preventing passage of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act (IIJA). The Senate passed the $1 trillion IIJA by a 69-30 vote in August. It includes a robust, five-year reauthorization of the federal highway and public transit programs. The House has not yet acted.

Running primarily during drive-time hours beginning on Oct. 21, the ad campaign exhorts listeners to call six key House Democrats and nine House Republicans who are uncommitted votes on the bill.

Customized for each intended member of the House, the ad reads:

“Imagine if you could buy a stock that tripled your money, guaranteed,” the ads ask. “You’d be a fool not to invest, right?

“That’s why Rep. Escobar must help pass the transportation infrastructure bill. Every new dollar spent on highways and transit returns more than triple the investment in jobs and economic activity.

“Investing in Texas means investing in transportation. Call (915) 541-1400 to let Representative Escobar know we refuse to be left behind.”

The ads, launched by the Transportation Construction Coalition (TCC) and U.S. Chamber of Commerce-led Americans for Transportation Mobility (ATM), are targeting these House members and on the following stations:

• Cori Bush (D-Mo.), St. Louis, KFTX-FM, KMOX-AM
• Kai Kahele, (D-Hawaii), Honolulu, KHNR-AM, WHVI-AM
