The Department of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology is proud to offer this conference in partnership with Towson University's NSSLHA chapter. You are invited to join current students, alumni, faculty, and area professionals for a day of learning and reunion.

Keynote Speaker Eusabia V. Mont, M.S., CCC-SLP 

will present 

"Being an Agent for Change in CSD" 

Eusabia V. Mont, M.S., CCC-SLP is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is the director of the Speech-Language Pathology Master’s Program and the Cultural-Linguistic Diversity Emphasis Program. Eusabia’s interests include communication across the lifespan, infusing diverse perspectives into the CSD curriculum, and creating psychological safety for underrepresented individuals in CSD.

Opening Speaker Richard E. Shermanski, Jr., Esq.

will present 

"Common Ethical Dilemmas Faced by SLPs and Audiologists"

Richard E. Shermanski, Jr., Esq. is the Associate Director, Ethics Adjudication for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). While working at ASHA, he has assisted in adjudicating over 800 cases, writes about ethics issues for ASHA and ASAE publications, and is the Board of Ethics go-to for Parliamentarian assistance. Richard attended Penn State University and received two Bachelor of Arts degrees in political science and history, and his law degree is from Western Michigan Thomas Cooley Law School. Richard is a licensed attorney in the District of Columbia and Maryland. He is currently serving a second term as a Commissioner for the Montgomery County Commission for People with Disabilities and is a member of the ASAE Ethics Committee. He also currently serves on both the Maryland State Bar Association’s Ethics and DEIA Committees, and in his spare time, advocates for Attorneys with disabilities.

Plenary Speaker Lisa Marie Kopf, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

will present

"Motivating your Client through Gamification in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology"

Dr. Lisa Kopf recently joined NIDCD as the Program Officer responsible for the voice and speech program. Dr. Kopf received her master’s degree in speech-language pathology from the University of Iowa and her Ph.D. in communicative sciences and disorders from Michigan State University. Her primary research interest is in clinical voice disorders. Her additional interdisciplinary training in user-experience design and serious game design have enhanced her research in the prevention and treatment of voice disorders.

Plenary Speaker William J. Bologna, Au.D., Ph.D., CCC-A

will present 

"Motivating your Client through Gamification in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology"

Dr. William J. Bologna, AuD, Ph.D., CCC-A is an Assistant Professor at Towson University in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and the Director of the Towson Auditory Simulation Lab. His research focuses on innovative approaches to assessment and rehabilitation in audiology, including clinical applications for virtual reality technology. The long-term goal of his research program is to support the use of individualized treatment plans in audiology that can address the specific physiological and behavioral deficits of a given patient.

Tier One $300: Includes lunch and option to attend sessions to obtain CEUs for up to two people. 

Tier Two $350: Includes lunch and option attend sessions to obtain CEUs for up to two people. 

The pricing for a table at the event is $300/$350, depending on the location of the table. Two representatives are welcome to attend. If you will attend the conference talks for CEU purposes, there is an additional registration fee of $25 per person.
