Climate Change Preparedness and Resiliency Checklist

The City of Boston requires new construction and redevelopment projects to consider present and future climate conditions. This checklist helps decision makers consider the range of issues building and their inhabitants may face.

This checklist helps builders and renovation project managers gather relevant information about climate change impacts that could affect their projects. Though designed specifically for the City of Boston, the checklist could be used or modified for other coastal cities.

The checklist is presented as a fillable form. You can also download the checklist as a Word document or access other documents for offline work.

The checklist describes expected future conditions and asks respondents to consider how their project will perform. For example, the checklist states "Climate change will result in more extreme weather events including higher year round average temperatures, higher peak temperatures, and more periods of extended peak temperatures. The section explores how a project responds to higher temperatures and heat waves." Similar sections describe expected sea-level changes and ask respondents to list their mitigation options.
