Winter or summer, snow or sunshine, skiing or hiking season, Colorado’s natural playground summons us outside every weekend. But there’s something to be said for taking a few days off to rest, refuel and restore our muscles before getting back out there again.

Whether you’re craving a staycation or you want to plan a spa-inspired road trip, these 19 Colorado spas will help you feel reenergized, any time of year.

Spa at St Julien

Located just a few blocks from the foothills west of Boulder, the Spa at St Julien is the place to treat yourself after a day of hiking or mountain biking. Or, plan your entire day around this luxurious, 10,000-square-foot spa with its Day of Decadence package ($470), which includes a body scrub, full-body Swedish massage, facial, pedicure, shampoo and style, champagne and a charcuterie board.

For a distinctly Boulder experience, consider treating yourself to the hotel’s Very Vegan Package (starting at $630), which includes an overnight stay, two “Cruisin’ in Rio” vegan cocktails, a $50 food and beverage credit (good for many vegan options at Jill’s Restaurant) and The Pampered Vegan treatment at the spa, which incorporates a vegan body scrub, a full-body massage and a warm scalp massage. The spa also has an indoor lap pool, hot tub, patio and fitness center with mountain views. Spa at St Julien, 900 Walnut St., Boulder, 720-406-8218, stjulien.com/spa

Spa Anjali at The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa

You’ll find 27,000 square feet in which to rest, replenish and work up a sweat at Spa Anjali, located at The Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa in Avon. The spa encompasses an athletic club, a steam room, a sauna, three infinity hot tubs, a full-service salon and 14 treatment rooms.

You can book one of the spa’s “journeys,” a curated collection of related treatments meant to reinvigorate you from head to toe, or sign up for a standalone offering like the Ponderosa Pine Therapy ($195), which draws on Native American remedies to help with inflammation, muscle pain and tension. Beyond the spa, the resort itself can help you recharge your batteries. With gorgeous mountain views, spacious suites and a heated outdoor saltwater pool, you may never want to leave. Spa Anjali at The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa, 126 Riverfront Lane, Avon, 970-790-3020, spaanjali.com

Strata Integrated Wellness Spa

The approach at the Strata Integrated Wellness Spa at Garden of the Gods Resort and Club is truly holistic. Here, you’ll find an entire team of therapists and physicians dedicated to helping you look and feel your best, including a cardiologist and internist, a kinesiologist, a nutritionist, a physical trainer, an acupuncturist, a lymphologist and more.

The 31,000-square-foot building is divided between a medical center, a spa and an event center, where the resort hosts cooking demonstrations, lectures and other gatherings. In addition to an array of body therapies, facials, massages, salon services and aesthetic treatments, the spa also recently began offering Chan Beaute, which draws on the Vietnamese practice of facial reflexology to address beauty marks, moles, wrinkles and other imperfections without damaging the skin.

To extend the peaceful feeling you’ll have when you leave the spa, be sure to request one of the mountain front guest rooms, which offer unparalleled views of the orange-red rock formations that make up the Garden of the Gods. After checking in to one of the Victorian-inspired suites, they’ll enjoy the club’s new CBD Massage and Rose CBD Spectrum Facial, which use local products from Boulder and Loveland to moisturize and refresh the skin while also relieving pain and anxiety. Another tranquil treatment is Bee My Honey, which incorporates olive oil, sugar, lavender essential oil, milk and honey body butter and local honey from nearby Urban Farmer Steakhouse (where the bees live on the roof!) into a truly sublime experience.

The club also has a full-service salon specializing in haircuts, color, makeup and special event styling. Be sure to give yourself enough time to breathe deeply in the spa’s eucalyptus steam rooms, too. The Oxford Club, Spa & Salon, 1616 17th St., #100, 303-628-5435, theoxfordhotel.com/spa-salon

Viceroy Snowmass

Many of the treatments offered by the Spa at Viceroy Snowmass are inspired by Native American, Nordic and Asian rituals, like the Bear Dance treatment ($300), which draws on an important Ute ceremony that celebrates bears coming out of hibernation in the spring. In addition to offering various holistic massage and facial treatments, the 7,000-square-foot spa also provides hair removal, lash and eyebrow grooming and salon services.
Extend your spa day into overnight so you can continue the serenity in one of the Viceroy’s newly renovated guest rooms and its three outdoor soaking tubs, which were specifically designed to focus on calves, quads and the lower back. Viceroy Snowmass, 130 Wood Road, Snowmass Village, 970-923-8007, viceroyhotelsandresorts.com/snowmass

If you love to ski — or you’re just ski-curious — book the Black Diamond Facial ($295), named for the runs that offer the most challenging terrain.
The facial, however, is anything but tough. It features exfoliation, a diamond-infused age-defying serum, a thermal mask and a Vitamin C booster. The Miner’s Mineral Mud Wrap ($350) is also inspired by the spa’s mountain setting, with activated charcoal mud extracted from Colorado mines. The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch, 0130 Daybreak Ridge Road, Avon, 970-343-1138, ritzcarlton.com/en/hotels/colorado/bachelor-gulch/spa
