A Vibrant Start to the Spring Semester! |
Hello, Maverick Family!
As the crisp air whispers promises of spring and the sun paints the sky with hues of hope, our Spring semester is in full swing! This semester holds limitless opportunities for growth and connection as we launch the university’s strategic plan and lead UTA to new heights.
As the lunar calendar turns, ushering in the Year of the Dragon, we join our vibrant Asian and Asian American communities in celebrating the Lunar New Year on February 10th. This auspicious occasion, filled with traditions of renewal, family reunions, and vibrant festivities, reminds us of the beauty of cultural diversity and the power of shared stories. Let's celebrate the Lunar New Year by learning more about its rich traditions and embracing the spirit of community it fosters.
Furthermore, as the month of February unfolds, we delve into the rich tapestry of Black History Month. This time serves as a powerful reminder of the struggles, triumphs, and enduring contributions of Black Americans throughout history. Let's honor this legacy by engaging in critical discussions, attending thought-provoking events, and celebrating the achievements of Black scholars, artists, and leaders.
This semester, we invite you to embrace the spirit of new beginnings, cultural exchange, and historical reflection. Join us for events that celebrate the Lunar New Year and delve into the stories and legacies of Black History Month. Together, let's make this semester a vibrant journey of learning, growth, and celebration.
With Maverick Pride,
Tamara L. Brown, Ph.D.
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

Marketing, Messaging, and Engagement (MME) has been working closely with a new vendor, BrightEdge, to maximize the UTA website's Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts. The objective is to position UTA as the prominent choice for individuals seeking a higher education leader in Texas.
You will see a few changes to UTA.EDU a few times, so please don't be alarmed! Once the site is SEO optimized and the data guides us to our best look and feel, MME will work with campus partners on a permanent refresh that really showcases UTA!

On June 27, 2023, the governor approved Senate Bill 17 (relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives at public institutions of higher education). When the bill was introduced, UTA created a taskforce to prepare for its potential impact across the institution. The taskforce created a three-phase plan to help UTA implement change in areas impacted by this bill. Learn more about these efforts on the Belonging and Engagement website and the UT System Working Guidance document. The bill took effect January 1, 2024.
