That means: now what (Ukrainian). So business-school-Salim is booted - and Liz it is. In a way she boasts credentials similar to her predecessor - in 2006, Liz had an affair with an older conservative MP who was appointed to mentor her. She was married but her husband forgave her (from what I’ve heard: hookups in UK Parliament aren’t like those featured in Body Heat starring William Hurt and Kathleen Turner, or like Demi Moore and Robert Redford in Indecent Proposal. They are filthy - spent condoms, howling and grunting, lines of cocaine - like Mike Tyson leaving a doughnut party in the 80s - and some head-butting in the Commons bar afterwards). Anyways, news just in claims that pro-Boris forces in the Tories aim to submit their first letters of no confidence by the end of this week…
In the spirit of what I said yesterday, I have an idea of what now - as I’m sure you do - where this is going, but I’ll let Maajid Nawaz explain as only he can….
Insofar as her prospects are concerned, here’s how I rate her chances of solving the biggest crises -
Energy: 2/10. See what Maajid has wrote above, and listen to what Liz’s predecessor has been been saying (Boris was - obviously - speaking to the totally-not-corrupt Vlodymyr Zelensky during the announcement).
Policing & Crime: 3/10. The type of policing we see today has two decades on Liz. The rot began in 2003, and these things aren’t solved overnight.
Inflation: 5/10. She could partially solve this by 5pm: sack anyone who denies that QE / printing cash causes inflation - the monkeys at the Reserve Bank first.
Doing something actually conservative: 0/10.
Just think: all that idiot Keir Starmer needs to do to become Prime Minister…is not be anti-semitic. Has this ever been easier?
UK PM: що тепер?
