JAN. 14, 2021.....The Legislature's proposal to jack up fees on ride-hailing services such as Uber and Lyft could more than triple annual revenue from those sources, even if the pandemic cuts their ridership to half of previous levels, the Metropolitan Area Planning Council estimated in a new report.

In a transportation bond bill whose fate rests with Gov. Charlie Baker, lawmakers agreed to increase the fees on transportation network companies, or TNCs, from the current 20-cents-per-ride flat fee to 40 cents per shared ride, $1.20 per non-shared ride, and $2.20 per luxury ride.
