Welcome to 2024 CAO’s Summer Institutes! We are excited to bring to you a collection of professional learning experiences we designed based on the feedback received from schools this year. All courses are multi-day, in-person learning experiences with several opportunities to network with colleagues, learn new practices, share ideas, and plan for SY24-25. All courses are co-designed and co-facilitated by classroom teachers. Course content and learning design are aligned to the Learning Forward Standards for Professional Learning and are submitted to MSDE for Continuous Professional Development (CPD) credits (approval currently pending). 

Attendance and Compensation Policy

Teachers and paraeducators who are interested in receiving a stipend and  CPD credits must attend a course for 90% of the time it is offered and complete all course assignments/deliverables. Tardiness and early departure count towards the time absent. Teachers can earn both stipends and CPD credits; paraprofessionals are offered stipends only. 

Stipend Rates

Stipend for completing a course is calculated by multiplying the total number of Professional Learning hours by $42.54 for teachers and $18 for paraprofessionals (subject to change, pending PSRP contract negotiations). Please see individual course descriptions for more information. 

Registration

All courses fill on a first-come first-served basis. Courses that reach capacity are removed from the registration. Educators are encouraged to register early. 

Prerequisite Requirements

The following courses have prerequisite requirements:

• Special Education Institute (August 5-8): completion of any June Institute course.  

• Applying Strategies to Support Multilingual Learners in the Content Areas (August 5-8): completion of  the Systemic PD sessions MLs 101 AND MLs 102: Language Objectives, OR the AU Course Introduction to Supporting MLs (this includes the EXPRESS version of this course), OR June Institute Course Introduction to Supporting MLs.
