The DIFC Courts Director, H.E. Justice Omar Al Mheiri, was delighted to attend the #Dubai #FinTechSummit. As one of the three (3) founding independent branches of the Dubai International Financial Centre (#DIFC), the #DIFCCourts combines a modern and flexible digital infrastructure with judicial and service excellence, aligning operations with the national agenda. As the UAE begins to nurture new digital economy verticals, the number of foreign organisations entering the market will inevitably increase. The DIFC Courts has a part to play with assuring these businesses that we remain on standby to resolve new types of cases and disputes, and to position Dubai as one of the most important and best financial centres regionally and globally.

The performance of the DIFC Courts in 2023 is testament to the maturity of both our service offering and to the infrastructure we continue to develop to meet the evolving needs of court users. Adopting user-friendly procedures, reinforcing the overall courts experience, and fine-tuning effective and less-expensive access to dispute resolution procedures are core pillars to our mission, working in tandem with national mandates to support Dubai and the UAE’s economic ambitions. On the first day of the DIFC Courts Advocacy Training, in collaboration with International Advocacy Training Council (#IATC) and supported by the The Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department, our Registrar, Ayesha Bin Kalban, introduced the #DIFCCourts structure, procedures, and services to the participants. The training course is designed to teach the basics of advocacy in the common #law adversarial process, utilising the Hampel method of #advocacy teaching. The method requires participants to perform as advocates in a simulated courtroom environment under the guidance of experienced and trained practitioners who will observe their performance and offer necessary guidance. The training is delivered by experienced judges and senior advocates from common law jurisdictions such as #HongKong, #SouthAfrica, #UnitedKingdom, #Singapore and #Malaysia.
