Support Students Experiencing Homelessness
The number of PSD families and youth experiencing homelessness has risen by more than 10% since last year, and their needs have risen exponentially. This year, our numbers continue to rise. Currently, one out of every 20 students is experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity in our district. Students experiencing homelessness encounter many barriers to their education. Our department works to help youth and families overcome these barriers, including transportation, access to extracurricular activities, before and after-school care, and meeting basic needs. We provide these supports in order to reduce educational barriers and help students and families move towards self-sufficiency.
Your generous donation allows the Language, Culture and Equity Department to support these students and families with hygiene and household supplies, temporary shelter, provisions, clothing, undergarments and socks, winter coats and gear, school supplies, extracurricular activities, etc.
Donations and funding that support child and yourth homelessness have significantly decreased post pandemic due to a multitude of economic factors. The need has never been greater.
Please help us reach our goal of raising $20,000 to support PSD students and families facing housing insecurity and homelessness.
