Opis
The purpose of this paper is the development of the research model for bioclimatic small-scale urban settlement in mild and temperate climate. Data for this model was obtained from the comparative analysis of five case studies, pre-selected on the basis of the literature review. Preliminary study was carried out to check the compliance of projects results with previous declarations in the authors’ description, in the context of bioclimatic design features. The possibility to perform on-site tests was also taken into account. As a result of the preliminary analysis, two case studies, completed in the same year but designed by completely different teams in two different countries, were selected as adequate and representative, and therefore qualified for further research. Multilevel research model was developed with aim to create a tool that can be used not only by scientists but also by designers, students, policy makers and other stakeholders interested in bioclimatic smallscale urban settlements as an important element of post-carbon cities planning strategy. While the tests were carried out for the specific climate conditions, the model, after some minor modifications, may be applied for research, education and design purposes also in other climatic zones. The research conclusions address the issue of multilevel integration of the built and natural environment oriented towards climate resilience and taking advantage of contemporary technology and knowledge.
