The Project

Our Dartmouth College research team has been traveling around, interviewing New England natives for the past 10 years as part of our effort to document New England life and language. We are especially interested in your life and language experiences in the time of COVID-19.

We usually interview people on the street but due to COVID-19 stay-at-home orders we are now conducting interviews via video conferencing!

Each phase of this project focuses on a different New England region and social group. In summer and fall 2020, we would like to hear from the Black/African American community in Eastern Massachusetts.

If you are African American and call eastern Massachusetts your hometown, we'd like to hear from you! Help us document the ways in which this pandemic has impacted language and life in your community.

We compensate each participant with a $12 e-gift card for a 45-minute interview.

You must be 18 or older to participate.
