Project Overview
The city of Aurora is in the final design phase of a project that will construct nearly two miles of multi-use trail to close the gap between Colfax Avenue and recent improvements constructed north of I-70. Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2022 or early 2023. Trail completion is expected by late 2023. Project highlights include:
Nearly two miles of new multi-use trail
Continuous 8-foot wide concrete trail
Pedestrian bridge over I-70
Improved railroad crossing to promote pedestrian and cyclist safety
Access to 71-mile High Line Canal Trail network with connections to the existing trail on both ends of the project
Two open houses were held to provide more information regarding trail design and anticipated construction.
Review the June 2022 virtual open house presentation below (8 minutes), including a tour of the trail alignment at 1:42. https://vimeo.com/717368100
