Capital Improvement Projects

After a facilities assessment of needs and a lot of planning, we are proud to share we will be making some renovations to Heartwood School, many program updates to the Wilson Talent Center and adding a new wing to create North Star School for our students with high emotional needs. North Star School will combine the current Secondary Learning Center and Evergreen into one school.

Capital Improvement Projects

The funding for this project came from a few places. First, we have a Capital Improvement account in which we set aside funds for career and technical education program enhancements. This will be used for the enhancements to our Wilson Talent Center programming.

The second portion of our funding comes from the Headlee Special Education Restoration Millage passed by voters on March 10, 2020. Thank you to our voters for supporting our students!

Much of the funding we receive for special education goes directly to our local districts and the cost of special education outweighs the funding we receive from state and federal agencies. Restoring the millage has allowed us to bring in more dollars to renovate our facilities to meet the needs of our students. We currently have students learning in an external classroom and the classroom has been used beyond its expected life cycle.

Our kids deserve more.

This transformation will take place between June of 2022 and December 2023 if all goes as planned.

This is an extremely exciting time for Ingham ISD as we invest in our student learning space and enhance their educational experience.
