Petition calling on Ohio Attorney General to Dissolve FirstEnergy Corporation

WHEREAS, FirstEnergy Corporation representatives have openly admitted that the Corporation illegally funneled at least 60 million dollars to a front group of former Ohio House leader Larry Householder to pass House Bill 6 ;

WHEREAS, the scheme defrauded Ohio taxpayers of $1 billion to bailout two antiquated nuclear power plants — rather than invest in renewable energy — and ruthlessly perverted democracy by shutting down the grassroots democratic referendum campaign to overturn HB 6 ;

WHEREAS, this is the largest known bribery scheme in Ohio history ;

WHEREAS, First Energy Corporation itself and all its relevant subsidiaries must be held fundamentally accountable for their illegal actions ;

WHEREAS, just as We the People through our elected representatives have the power and authority to create corporate entities through charters (i.e.  licenses), we through our representatives have the power and authority to abolish them if they violate their charter or commit egregious acts ;

WHEREAS, the office of Ohio Attorney General, currently headed by David Yost, has the power, authority and – under the present circumstances – the responsibility to dissolve FirstEnergy and all of its subsidiary corporations involved in this historic criminal act ;

WHEREAS, revoking charters and dissolving corporations are an important piece of democratic history in Ohio. It includes Ohio Attorney General David K. Watson, a Republican, who in 1892 initiated legal proceedings to revoke the charter of the largest corporation in the United States at the time, the Standard Oil Corporation, for conspiring to form a trust ;

WHEREAS, energy to customers can be supplied by other energy corporations or, better, from public sources ;

WHEREAS, it is not enough to only pursue civil prosecution of individuals of FirstEnergy Corporation ;

THEREFORE,  I call on Ohio Attorney General David Yost to dissolve FirstEnergy and all its relevant subsidiary corporations under the Ohio Corrupt Practices Act in response to its/their openly admitted involvement in this massive bribery scheme.
