Inviting “leaders who read & readers who lead” to join our first-ever RI Manufacturing Book Club!

Eager to share … learn from … connect with other manufacturing leaders? Want to dive deeper into ideas that can have a positive impact on your company’s alignment of strategy and talent?

Join Polaris MEP and other RI manufacturing executives for our Summer 2021 Book Club. The book we’ll explore is “The High-Velocity Edge” by Steven J. Spear.

You’ll learn what sets market-dominating companies apart and — through discussions with other book club members — discover a framework you could leverage to surge to the lead in your own industry.

BOOK CLUB STRUCTURE

  1. Polaris MEP will provide hard-cover copies of the highly-acclaimed The High-Velocity Edge to each participant. We’ll deliver your copy with a participant guide and reading breakdown.
  2. Book club membership is capped at 12, for lively discussions where all can contribute.
  3. The first four sessions will be conducted by Zoom, from 12pm to 1pm on July 21, August 4, August 18 and September 1.
  4. The final session will be in-person and followed by an (outdoor) happy hour at 4:30pm on September 15.
  5. Book club members who attend every session will be entered into a raffle. We’ll select the winner at the final wrap-up gathering.

WHO SHOULD JOIN

RI manufacturing decision-makers and culture-changers.

ABOUT THE BOOK

From the official book listing:

“[M]ultiple perspectives and in-depth case studies show how to:

* Build a system of “dynamic discovery” designed to reveal operational problems and weaknesses as they arise

* Attack and solve problems when and where they occur, converting weaknesses into strengths

* Disseminate knowledge gained from solving local problems throughout the company as a whole

* Create managers invested in developing everyone’s capacity to continually innovate and improve”

FACILITATOR

Polaris MEP Project Manager Phil Ward has 35 years of manufacturing experience in the semiconductor industry (including 30 at Intel), with wafer fabrication, assembly and test. He has held staff level positions within Operations, Engineering, Planning and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).

Phil is a recognized, hands on innovative LEAN leader, educator, facilitator and coach with global experience.

Polaris MEP is committed to offering the best business improvement programs to Rhode Island Manufacturers.

In order to achieve that goal and to justify continued U.S. Department of Commerce funding for these services, participants are asked to provide impact data and assessment. You’ll be asked for feedback through a short online survey within 1-3 days of this program and possibly again through an impartial third-party survey firm, 6-12 months after a Polaris MEP hosted public workshop.
