Brier Pesach tea plans finalized
Locals will feature at Showcase
. This year*s Showcase of Canadian Jewish Writers, to be -held Wednesday and-Thursday April 29 and 30 at the JGC, will feature workshops by many local individuals and organizations.
Beginning April 29 at noon, the Golden Age lunch will be followed by Di Leyeners-Grupe — a Yiddish reading ]group led by Paulina Kirmah and^ponsored by the Yiddish library of the Vaacouver ; Peretz instituted; At the^same time; Phyllis Simon will speak on choosing books'for children. At 2 p.m.i a lecture on Jewish Women in French literature will be presented by Shayndel Feuerstein.
On April 30 at 10:30 a.m., Adeena Karasick will read from and speak about her poetry. Karasick, currently studyingat UBC, is co-editor of ANERCA, a magazine of contemporary poetry. Her

poetry is largely concerned' with the Kabbalah. In her talk, she reports she will dis^ cuss various aspects of contemporary verse, as well as "poetic possibilities within Jewish mysticism."
At 2 p.m., Barry Dunner and Barbara Hollenberg from
the Jewish Historical Society and community archives will present a workshop titled Get-iing^Starjed Writing Your Family Tree. There will also foe a display by the Canadian Book Information centre.

The,Showcase of Canadian Jewish Writers is organized by a committee of dedicated volunteers, headed by Gherie Smith. This year, it is sponsored by the JCC; National Book Festival, Canadian Jewish Congress and congregations Beth Israel and Schara Tzedeck and Temple Sholom.

Michael Goldstein, national executive vice-president JNF of Canada, brought greetings from the national president and from JNF World -chairman Moishe Rivlin. Goldstein recently met with Rivlin in Israel to present a check for $1' million representing funds collected for JNF in the first t>yo months of 1987.
