JLG Digital gives you and your readers unlimited access to read books online from any device.  There is no limit to the number of users who can access the books.  Titles enter and exit the digital stream regularly, so there are always new picks available.







Open Library
Open Library currently has over 1 million books and they are constantly adding more free online books. According to the website, their goal is to create a page on their website site for every book ever published.  You can read entire books online for free just by using their search bar.  Once your results come up, use the filter so that it shows you “eBooks” only.

Project Gutenberg
This is the oldest digital library and it was founded in 1971. Their goal is to make online books available for free. They do ask for a donation to help them accomplish their goal, but it isn’t required.  You can read any of the online books that they offer. They have over 58,000 eBooks to choose from, and most of them are compatible with common e-readers.



Read Any Book
This site had a lot of great contemporary free online books to read. They have popular books from Stephen King, the Harry Potter series, and more. You can read these books on their site for free but if you want to download it, they will charge you. 

 



Read Print
This is a great site that features well-known authors like Jane Austen and Mark Twain. They allow you to read thousands of entire books online for free. 




Smashwords has a large collection of books to read online. They have a large variety of genres and categories.  There are over 507,000 books published but it’s a mix of free and paid online books.  Look for the link to Special Deals.  To find the free books, make sure to click on the “Free” filter at the top of the page.  This will filter out the paid books and only show you the free online books

The Library of Congress has created one the most exhaustive digital libraries in the world. Read.gov provides digitized versions of thousands of popular books, new and old. You can narrow your search by kid, teen, and adult titles—as well as archived newspapers, films, and magazines. 

 

Overdrive
If you love your local library, then Overdrive is the e-book app for you. You can search our local libraries online digital catalogs from the privacy of your own smart device, so you read books from home, for free, while still supporting the local library.


 

Bookhub  
Easy to use website where you can get e-book deals, free e-books and author recommendations. When you sign up with your email, you choose the types you’d like to get notified about — with categories ranging from mysteries to romance to cookbooks and many more.  The free e-books are available on all devices including Kindle, Nook, iPad and Android.  If you don’t want to subscribe, you don’t have to, just check the site anytime you want to buy or read a book. All the deals are available on the site.
