Florida Keys Volunteer Center - Community Outreach VISTA
 
 
 
You will take on the important role of creating the brand new Florida Keys Volunteer Center. This unique opportunity will transform your resume into that of a superstar! You will be getting to know all kinds of people throughout our island chain as you recruit and retain volunteers as well as nonprofit partners to provide volunteer opportunities. A typical day will include meetings and presentations on the phone and in person, so this position is ideally suited for an extrovert who enjoys building relationships and helping people. You will also help build a coaching program to help Florida Keys nonprofits recruit, retain and maximize their effective use of volunteers. Joining our small team at the Community Foundation, you will be empowered to brainstorm ideas, make them happen and most of all enjoy a unique culture where we value having lots of fun while providing exceptional service for our nonprofit partners and island community. Your work will have a tremendous impact as the volunteer center will benefit thousands of individuals, families and organizations over the years to come. Note: the stipend you receive will not cover the cost of Key West housing, which will be your own responsibility, but you will experience a year of service that you will remember passionately for the rest of your life. We have two positions available so you could potentially share housing with a friend and work and play together in the beautiful Florida Keys! Member Duties : Be a rock star by helping launch the Florida Keys Volunteer Center and manage its first year! – Conduct email, phone and in-person outreach to potential volunteers, to include local businesses. – Provide customer service to potential and current volunteers. – Make presentations to potential groups of volunteers and showcase opportunities at local events. – Conduct email, phone and in-person outreach to recruit nonprofit partners. – Stay in close contact with representatives of partner organizations to help them maximize the benefits of the Florida Keys Volunteer Center. – Help curate and conduct trainings to instruct nonprofits on how to effectively recruit and retain volunteers. – Help identify and solicit potential donors for a Florida Keys Volunteer Center Fund. – Help identify and solicit potential sponsors for the VolunteerKeys.com web site. – Document daily contacts and track and provide reporting on program results. – Work hard and enjoy this very unique experience!
