The Georgia Military Service Scholarship is worth about $85,000+ over four years!
The State of Georgia funds 42 full scholarships per year to Georgia high school seniors who agree to enlist in the Georgia Army National Guard, attend the University of North Georgia, participate in the Corps of Cadets, and commission as officers in the Georgia Army National Guard after graduating with their bachelor's degrees.
The scholarship covers almost all of your expenses, including tuition, books, uniforms, fees, meals, and housing.

If awarded the GMSS, you will become a part-time officer at one of the most respected public institutions in the U.S. after you finish your bachelor’s degree. You will serve the citizens of Georgia for four years as a condition of receiving the scholarship. After those four years, you’ll serve two more years either in the Guard, or transition into the regular Army - your choice.
You will not be deployable while at UNG in the Corps of Cadets under either of these two options.
You enlist in the Georgia Army National Guard for a military occupational specialty (MOS). This option gives you the opportunity to choose from among dozens of jobs such as intelligence, law enforcement, helicopter crew chief, infantryman, medic, and many more. In Army basic training, you will learn how to be a soldier. Then, in advanced individual training, you will gain the abilities required for your desired job. And you will be paid for your training!
What will you get?
You enlist as an Officer Candidate. Under this option, you do not choose a military occupational specialty, and you do not go to Army basic training and advanced individual training. You will receive weekend drill pay during all four years at UNG, and during your sophomore or junior year, you will have the opportunity to sign an agreement to become an Army National Guard lieutenant. When you sign that agreement, you will receive $420 per month in ROTC stipends.
