About Perpie

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Waking up everyday to songs by Jim Reeves, Don William, Dolly Parton, my mum played them every morning. Weekends spent with my dad, led me to afro-beat music by Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. Living next to a mosque, I also got used to the 'Call for Prayer'. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? A-Q, Brymo, Ethos Kirk Whalum, The Gospel According to Jazz, Chapter IV Somi, Zenzile: The Reimagination of Miriam Makeba Gospel According to Jazz by Kirk Whallum Ethos by Brymo Zenzile They each represent different samples of my experience of life. As a saxophonist, Jazz music became the sound, growing up in Nigeria is the sound I have found. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Meditation” Meditation is my very first songwriting child. The blend of melody, rhythm in a soulful pack, offers a unique warmth and beauty to listeners. Every time people listen to it, they share their awe and love for how soul, sweet and uplifted it left them.
