Nighttime ramp closures at Interstate-25 and Colorado Highway 16
Colorado Springs — Th e Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor SEMA Construction will temporarily close the southbound off-ramp at I-25 and CO 16 (Mile Point 132) and both off-ramps (MP 132A & 132B) for milling operations. The nighttime closures are scheduled for 7 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4 and Wednesday, October 5.
There will also be a temporary closure of the southbound off-ramps at I-25 and CO 16 (Mile Point 132A and 132B - Mesa Ridge Parkway) for roadway paving, lane striping and minor traffic switch of the southbound off ramp at MP 132A. This nighttime closure is scheduled for 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 8. There will also be a right lane closure on I-25 at this location (MP 132).
Use signed detour route. Fort Carson personnel should consider using alternate gates.
Head-to-head traffic continues on I-25, separated by temporary barrier with 11 ft. lanes and 2 ft. shoulders. This traffic configuration will be in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Normal working hours will be 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday. The speed limit in this area has been reduced to 55 MPH. Slight traffic delays are expected and motorists are urged to use extra caution while traveling in the new traffic pattern. Fin es will be double through the construction zone.
Starting on Monday at 7 a.m., Charter Oak Ranch Road will follow a new ongoing configuration, with detours using lanes of the new roundabout. Traffic from Santa Fe Ave. will turn north on Champlin Ln., west on Champlin Dr., and south on Charter Oak Ranch Rd. and proceed south through the roundabout. Traffic from Fort Carson will travel north through the roundabout, turn east on Champlin Dr., south on Champlin Ln., and east onto Santa Fe Ave.
A Courtesy Patrol will be driving the work zone and will respond to incidents when notified. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday and holidays.
Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.

A traffic switch is currently in place from S. Academy Blvd. to US-85 (Santa Fe). Use extreme caution, speed limit 55 MPH.
Santa Fe Avenue and Charter Oak Ranch Road

Flagging operations with alternating lane closures and alternating one-way traffic continues on Santa Fe Ave. and Charter Oak Ranch Road, Mon., Oct. 3 to Fri., Oct. 7, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., to allow crews to continue paving activities. Detours are in place. Use extreme caution in the area.

A new configuration will begin Monday, Oct. 3, with traffic diverting onto Champlin Ln., Champlin Dr. and northbound/southbound lanes of the new roundabout.
Colorado Highway 94

A full closure is in place on North Blaney Road. Vehicles will not be able to access North Blaney Road from CO 94 or access CO 94 from North Blaney Road. This closure will remain in place through early fall.

The intersection for South Blaney Road has been moved temporarily 300 feet to the east. Use extreme caution in the area.

Project Overview
Interstate-25 – Safety and Efficiency Improvements
The improvements to I-25 addressed in this project are located along an approximately 7.5-mile segment of south I-25 beginning at S. Academy Blvd. and extending to the Santa Fe Ave. (CO 85/87) exit at Fountain (MP 128), which exits to Gate 19 of Fort Carson. The project includes:
Replacement of two bridges crossing over S. Academy Blvd.
Widening of both inside and outside shoulders and installing safety improvements
Concrete surface treatment overlay to provide an improved riding surface
Installation of median barrier
Rehab and widening work on four bridges
Installation of an I-25 southbound deceleration lane at the interchange with Colorado Highway 16
Safety Benefits
CDOT conducted a safety assessment for the corridor to evaluate the magnitude and nature of safety problems and analyze the causes of crashes. These transportation improvements are mitigation measures to reduce crashes, improve infrastructure, and address physical deficiencies that contribute to crashes in the corridor. Over the next twenty years, the project is estimated to result in fewer deaths, injuries, and crashes on the four MAMSIP corridors.
