Dr. Cynthia Garrett
Dr. Cynthia Garrett's personal mission is to serve the sick, the vulnerable, and the poor. From a very young age she spoke of becoming a doctor in order to help others. She grew up the middle of three children and was educated in the Birmingham School System where she met her high school sweetheart and now husband of 33 years, Mr. Pietro Garrett Sr. They have 2 children: Lauren Paige and Pietro "PJ" Garrett Jr. Dr. Garrett completed her undergraduate studies at Samford University and The University of Alabama. She completed her graduate studies at Samford University and Post Graduate studies at The University of Alabama completing where she received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice. Her vast nursing experience includes: pediatrics, hematology/oncology, medical surgical, obstetrics/gynecology, case management, hospice, home health, quality/regulatory affairs, correctional health, nursing administration, and nursing education. Dr. Garrett completed additional certifications as a parish nurse and certified case manager. Dr. Garrett is a member of the Historic 16th Street Baptist Church where she serves as leader of the Health and Wellness Ministry. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. where she has served on the health committee and participates in community health and service initiatives addressing the needs of the community. Her cannabis journey started as she searched for solutions to problems and symptoms of chronic conditions affecting her directly and indirectly. Dr. Garrett's family is no stranger to chronic conditions including, diabetes, hypertension, sickle cell disease, arthritis, and systemic lupus erythematosus. As a nurse and caregiver, she began to explore CBD and how it could be incorporated into plans of care to address pain and inflammation bringing relief to sufferers. Dr. Garrett is a Cannabis Nurse Consultant and continues to increase her knowledge of Cannabis, which she calls the "astounding" plant. Her goal is to impart her knowledge to others to better equip them to take ownership in their own care
