EPA is hosting an informational webinar specifically for the drinking water professional community on April 23, 2024 about EPA’s recently finalized Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) National Primary Drinking Water Regulation (NPDWR). During the webinar, EPA will provide information and an overview of the final PFAS NPDWR, including the regulation’s requirements and implementation timeline.

Please note that EPA is hosting two other similar informational webinars on the final PFAS NPDWR. As much of the webinar presentation information will be similar and due to capacity limitations, EPA requests that registrants only register for one of the three webinars. Background Information:

In 2021, EPA released the PFAS Strategic Roadmap (www.epa.gov…) laying out an approach to addressing PFAS across the Agency. Establishing an NPDWR for PFAS is a key action in the Roadmap. More information about the final PFAS drinking water regulation is available at: www.epa.gov….

As a water and/or wastewater system operator you know that teamwork and communication between regulatory agencies, board members and other support partners is essential as they are all focused on the same objective: providing safe affordable drinking water to the community. This requires operators to be visionaries, to have strong networks, to resolve conflicts, and to adjust and manage change.With that in mind, we have developed an interactive and powerful Strengths-Based Leadership Workshop Series for water operators. Please invite operators and anyone interested in becoming an operator to register soon; registration is limited to the first 50 people. The in-person cohort meets on Wednesdays from 9 AM to 3 PM. 5

The NM Environment Department’s Drinking Water Bureau, the Rural Community Assistance Corporation and the Southwest Environmental Finance Center, in Sponsorship with the Greater Valle de Taos Water and Wastewater Alliance, are providing a training workshop for the LCR Service Line Inventory, now a federal requirement for ALL Community (C) and Non-Transient/non-community (NTNC) water systems. Initial inventories need to be submitted by October 16, 2024.

Hear about how Greenville operators are using a digital replica of their water system to test operational impacts before taking action in the field. Like many small, rural water utilities in the US, Greenville Water Utility doesn’t have an in-house hydraulic engineer at hand to pull up the town’s hydraulic model and run a quick scenario. So to understand the impacts of basic operational scenarios, as simple as turning pipes on and off, often means hiring consultants or testing in the field with the risk of unexpectedly impacting the customers.

In this webinar, you’ll learn about Greenville’s journey towards creating a digital replica of their water system to plan network changes independently and optimize network performance. For example, the team have recently used the tool to locate leaks in their network, by simulating added demand at different parts to pinpoint anomalies. What’s more, it’s provided a great way to onboard new team members, without extensive in-field training.
