Located in California, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) was established in 1952 as a multidisciplinary research and development center focusing on weapons development and stewardship and national security. The laboratory is operated by Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC, for the National Nuclear Security Administration. At the LLNL main site, EM has been tasked by Congress to demolish several excess facilities. At the Site 300 experimental test site, EM is responsible for the characterization, remedy selection, and remedy implementation at Buildings 865 and 812, as well as addressing the remaining perchlorate contamination under Building 850 groundwater.

Kevin Bazzell has served as the Environmental Management (EM) Excess Facility Demolition Federal Project Director (FPD) for the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory since 2012 and 2018 respectively and has more than 35 years of experience in the nuclear industry.
