Frasso Selected on Day Two of MLB Draft by Toronto Blue Jays

Loyola Marymount University standout junior right-handed pitcher Nick Frasso was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays on the second day in the fourth round of the 2020 Major League Baseball Draft. The Blue Jays drafted LMU's Frasso with the 106th overall pick.
 
The five rounds of the 2020 MLB Draft were held over two days, June 10 and 11. This was the shortest June draft in MLB history consisting of 160 total players selected over the two-day event. It has been 40 rounds in recent years, was 50 rounds before that and used to be unlimited, stopping only when the last team decided to stop picking. 
 
Frasso, a Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball News and Perfect Game was also tabbed a member of the All-West Coast Conference Preseason Baseball Team. In 2020, Frasso appeared and started in two games while posting an ERA of 4.15 in 8 2/3 innings pitched while striking out 11. 
 
Frasso, the Lions school record holder for lowest opponent batting average at .154, leaves LMU with six victories, 11 saves, and 158 strikeouts in 125 1/3 innings pitched. He holds a career ERA of 2.22 ERA which is seventh best in team history. 
 
During the 2019 season Frasso was recognized as a member of the All-WCC Second Team the WCC All-Tournament Second Team and was selected to the Collegiate National Team Roster. He was also on the mound to record the final out to secure the WCC Championship against Saint Mary's and the Lions victory against No. 1 UCLA in the Los Angeles Regional of the NCAA Tournament.   
 
In his first season as LMU's head coach, Nathan Choate has now produced 25 MLB draft picks and was on the staff that produced the Lions return to the NCAA Regionals since 2000.
