The Best Places to see Cherry Blossoms in Paris

If you love cherry blossoms, you must visit Paris in spring! This magical city becomes even more beautiful at this time of the year when these pink flowers are taking over! If you wonder where to find cherry blossoms in Paris, you are at the right place! I have chased them all around town last year! So now I’m pleased to share with you the list of all the best places to see cherry blossoms in Paris!

Because I’m a photographer and a Parisian, I also added my local tips and the exact locations so that you can organize your hunt for Sakura in Paris! You will find here not only the most iconic cherry blossoms spots in Paris, but also many hidden gems!

And if you want to know all the other blooms you can see in Paris during this season, check out my Ultimate Guide for Spring in Paris!

Cherry blossoms are blooming in spring in Paris, from the end of February/beginning of March to April. The early cherry blossoms are starting to bloom at the end of February or the beginning of March depending on the trees and the years. They have white or light pink petals. Then you have other cherry trees blooming all over the month of March with the same kind of flowers. Beginning of April, you can see the famous Kanzan prunus trees blooming: the most striking ones! Their fluffy, blousy pink flowers with a frilly edge are extraordinarily beautiful. They are called double flowers, because on the contrary to the others cherry blossom flowers, they have 20 to 50 petals! That’s why they are so unique and popular!

The blooming period of the cherry blossoms lasts for around 2 weeks (from the beginning of the blooms to the end). So be ready to capture them on time, as they won’t last! Especially the full bloom is very quick (a few days).

Check out my calendar for all the spring blooms in Paris if you do not want to miss any flowers while you are there! Even if you are too early or too late for the cherry blossoms, you might see other flowers 😉 ! Paris has so many blooms to offer in spring!

Be aware that these blooming timings can vary from +/- 1 to 2 weeks because of the weather. If the month of February is sunny and mild, the cherry blossoms will appear sooner. On the contrary, in February if the weather is cold, the cherry blossoms will bloom later.

In the next paragraphs, I will share all the best places to see cherry blossoms in Paris with their exact geolocation and their blooming period so that you can anticipate! I have organized them following the blooming calendar 🙂 .

Cherry blossoms at the Eiffel Tower in the Champ de Mars

In the Champ de Mars, you will find a beautiful cherry blossom tree with the Eiffel Tower in the background. This tree is one of the very first to present cherry blossoms in Paris! The Champ de Mars is the park hosting the Eiffel Tower, for this reason it’s one of the best places to capture the Iron Lady! It’s also very pleasant to walk or to do a picnic here when the weather allows it. Therefore, I recommend it as one of the best gardens in Paris!

Location: Early cherry blossoms in the Champs de Mars

When to see cherry blossoms here: at the end of February / Beginning of March

My secret tip: If you take the time to explore the park, you will find plum blossoms and magnolias

Cherry blossoms in front of the Chambre Syndicale rue du Louvre

La Chambre Syndicale in rue du Louvre is one of the most surprising buildings in Paris! It will remind you of the flatiron building in NYC because of its original shape. This building used to be the house of a Syndical Chamber, hence the name written on the front of the façade. Right in front of it at the crossroad of two streets stands a gorgeous cherry blossoms tree. The combination of this flatiron building and the blooms is very picturesque!

Location: Cherry blossoms at la Chambre Syndicale in rue du Louvre

When to see cherry blossoms here: around mid-March

My secret tip: one of my favorite pastry shops is located not far from here! Check out Tartelettes if you have a sweet tooth! They have a cafe inside the pastry shop if you want to relax.

Cherry blossoms in the Parc Clichy-Batignolles Martin Luther-King

The Parc Clichy-Batignolles Martin Luther-King is located in the 17th arrondissement in the charming district of the Batignolles. It was created recently following sustainable principles and it’s one of the beautiful parks in Paris! If you wander here in spring, you will see many cherry blossoms as it features a lot of prunus trees!

Location: Parc Clichy-Batignolles Martin Luther-King

When to see cherry blossoms here: around mid-March, 3rd week of March

My secret tip: there is a charming square at around 5 min walk named Square des Batignolles that you can also check out while you are here. It offers a pond, many pretty plants and trees and some nice cafes around it!

Cherry blossoms in the Parc de Bagatelle

The Parc de Bagatelle is another of the gardens you must visit in Paris! It’s a bit further from the center, in the 16th arrondissement in the heart of the Bois de Boulogne. This garden features one of the most beautiful cherry blossom trees I have ever seen! It looks like a mix of a cherry tree and a weeping willow with pendulous branches full of cherry blossoms. But there are other more “traditional” cherry trees in the park.

Location: Parc de Bagatelle

When to see cherry blossoms here: around mid-March, 3rd week of March

My secret tip: If you come here in March you will also enjoy magnolias, daffodils and hyacinths. And do not miss the Parc de Bagatelle in May as it features the biggest and oldest rose gardens in France! Therefore the Parc de Bagatelle is one of the prettiest parks in Paris!

White cherry blossoms in the Tuileries Garden

The Tuileries Garden is located between the Louvre Museum and the Place de la Concorde. You can find here many blooming trees in spring, amongst them some beautiful white cherry blossom trees! If you come in the area to visit the Louvre, you should pass by the Tuileries as it’s one of the best gardens in Paris!

Cherry blossoms in the Jardin des Plantes

Another garden featuring cherry blossoms in Paris is the Jardin des Plantes. Located in the 5th arrondissement, it’s the main botanical garden in France and one of the most beautiful gardens in Paris! It features 5 especially remarkable trees (“arbres remarquables”). And one of them is a Japanese white cherry blossom tree from the Sato-zakura ‘Shirotae’ family. It’s very wide (up to 12 meters) and its branches are low and horizontal. It’s simply stunning! Besides that, the garden is the host of one of the most photographed pink kanzan cherry blossom tree in the whole Paris!

Location: Jardin des Plantes

When to see cherry blossoms here: Beginning of April

My secret tip: the big instagrammable cherry blossom tree is blooming a bit later (around one week later) than the other white cherry blossoms trees. So you might not be able to capture all of them in full bloom at the same time!

Cherry blossoms at the Petit Palais

The Petit Palais was built for the Universal Exhibition in 1900. It’s the Museum of Fine Arts for the city of Paris. You will find it located in the 8th arrondissement near the Pont Alexandre III. There is a beautiful cherry blossom tree in front of the entrance on the right side. It’s one of the first kanzan cherry blossom trees to bloom in Paris! And there is one in the courtyard inside the museum. You can access it for free: the access to the permanent collections is free. And you can enjoy a drink and a snack at the café in the courtyard!

Location: Petit Palais

When to see cherry blossoms here: Beginning of April

My secret tip: The central entrance of the Petit Palais is THE most stunning door in Paris! If you want to capture it, make sure to come before or after opening hours (before 9:00, after 19:00), or on Mondays as it’s closed.

Cherry blossoms in the Jardin des Ambassadeurs

As you are near the Petit Palais, I recommend walking to the Jardin des Ambassadeurs. It will take you around 6 min. And it features a cherry blossom tree near a pretty fountain. The scenery is very picturesque!

This place is one of the hidden gems I have discovered last year!

My secret tip: This garden, although right close by the Champs Élysées, is very quiet during the week. So, you can enjoy it at any time of the day in spring!

Cherry blossoms in the Square Gabriel Pierné

The Square Gabriel Pierné is a charming square located behind the Institut de France and near the Pont des Arts in the 6th arrondissement. This spot is one of my very favorite and one of the best spots in Paris to see cherry blossoms! Many kanzan cherry blossom trees are standing here and provide a beautiful ceiling of pink blooms! They look magnificent with the golden dome of the Institut de France in the background! If you look closely at the photos, you will notice that the benches here look like open books.

The Trocadero Gardens are located down to the Trocadero esplanade and in front of the river Seine and the Pont d’Iéna. This area is one of the best places to capture the Eiffel Tower! The beloved Notre Dame cathedral features some beautiful cherry blossoms! You can admire them in the Square Jean XXIII and on the right side facing the Seine. On this side, a few white and pink cherry blossom trees are standing facing the Seine. And in the Square Jean XXIII they are all pink. In April 2019 the Cathedral has experienced an awful fire. Since then, the cathedral is under construction and will be until at least 2024. Unfortunately, this means that during this time, it’s not possible to access the cherry blossoms. But at least you can admire them from afar from the banks of the Seine in Quai de Montebello!

My secret tip: the white cherry blossoms are blooming before the pink ones, so it’s possible you do not see them in full bloom at the same time!

Two pretty cherry blossom trees stand in front of the famous bookstore Shakespeare and Company. Located near Notre Dame in the 5th arrondissement, this iconic English language bookstore opened here in 1951. It’s a great place to find new and second-hand books, and also antique books! It’s very cute inside and totally worth the visit if you are a bookworm 🙂 .

My secret tip: go to the Shakespeare and Company Cafe on the left side of the bookstore if you want to enjoy a drink and a snack. They have some yummy chai lattes and cakes. It’s one of the cutest cafes in Paris!

Cherry blossoms in the Parc de Sceaux

The Parc de Sceaux is in the outskirt of Paris but is totally worth the trip as it’s one of the very best places to see cherry blossoms in Paris! The North Grove in the garden features a field of pink Kanzan cherry trees and the South Grove a field of white cherry trees. When all the cherry blossom trees are blooming it’s beyond magical! The Asian community living and traveling to Paris and the Parisians love to come here to enjoy Hanami under the Sakura. It’s an amazing place for a picnic and it’s one of the best parks in and around Paris!

Location: Parc de Sceaux. You can get there by RER train and it takes around 30 min from Paris by RER train from Gare du Nord in Paris.

When to see cherry blossoms here: from the 20th of April until end of April

Besides the château, you can visit here an Orangerie, an art gallery, and the Pavillon d’Aurore, a magnificent garden pavilion.

Cherry blossoms in Mail de Bièvre

In the heart of the 13th arrondissement in Paris, you will find a magical alley of cherry blossoms!
