It is in a small warm theater that Singulier Pluriel invites you this spring to celebrate theater and life.

After 15 years of touring from the North to the South, from Montevideo to Valparaiso, from Laval-des-Rapides to St-Adèle-en-haut, Julie Vincent wanted to be in Montréal in the atmosphere of intimate theaters as they can be found in Buenos Aires or in Paris. Julie found that jewel on the corner of Marie-Anne St. and Marquette St. and by the way, the Théâtre de l’Esquisse is also a Tango dancing school, imagine!

La Chair de Juliais Julie Vincent’s most intimate work and it unfolds as the culmination of a lifetime.

Spanning decades in the Americas, from the 1950s in Québec, to all the way in Argentina in 2022, La Chair de Julia shows the fight of a woman, an artist, pedagogue, poet, monster, itinerant, and sentimental warrior who walks, armed with her imagination in an unusual and cruel world.

Heir to the years of ideology, cinema, television, this Quixote rides, not without humor, through the turbulence of our time. Both author and performer, Julie Vincent takes up a new challenge by exploring shadow theater and creating characters made of paper and fabric.

Philippe Soldevila collaborates with the author on the staging, which also brings together Michel Smith on the piano and the actress Paola Huitrón on the manipulation of a variety of puppets.

Childhood photos, drawings, intimate and sensual traces, objects come to life in the land of her memory. La chair de Julia celebrates the strength and fragility of a woman who builds herself before our eyes, making her scars her most beautiful jewel.
