While everyone should know basic seizure first aid, becoming Seizure First Aid Certified takes you further. You will learn how to recognize signs of a seizure and how to use the basic first aid steps in different settings, for different seizure types and when medical help may be needed.

Seizure First Aid Certification is designed for people who:

• Have a family member, loved one, or friend with seizures.
• Have a job where you provide care for people with seizures.
• Have a job where you work with the public or work with someone who has seizures.
• Coach or lead groups.
• Work, play, or live in areas or settings where seizures could occur.

Seizure First Aid Certification Training is offered online with instructor-led webinars. It will also be available through in-person trainings with your local Epilepsy Foundation. 

Enroll in a LIVE instructor-led training session by clicking the Start Online Course Button above. (If you are taking the training with others, each person needs to enroll separately.) 

To gain access to a LIVE instructor-led session managed by the National Epilepsy Office, follow the below instructions:

BEFORE attending the LIVE webinar: 

1. Complete the first part of the course, which includes a demographic survey, knowledge, and confidence assessment. 
2. Navigate to the LIVE Session Zoom Registration Links lesson in the online course. 
3. Access the link to register for one of the LIVE webinar sessions. 
4. Access your LIVE webinar (Zoom) participant link from the Zoom registration confirmation page.  

AFTER registering and attending the LIVE instructor-led webinar: 

1. Attend the LIVE instructor-led webinar. Please allow 75 minutes to attend the live session and arrive on time. 
2. Stay to the end of the LIVE session to receive instructions and a link to access the post-course assessments and evaluation. 
3. After attending the LIVE webinar, use the link provided during the webinar to complete the post-course assessment and evaluation here on the Epilepsy Learning Portal. 
4. Upon successfully passing the knowledge portion of the post-course assessment you will become Seizure First Aid Certified.

If you are a certified health education specialist (CHES™/MCHES™), you will be eligible for continuing education credits after completing the course and passing the post-assessment and completing the course evaluation.

This program is designated for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES™) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES™) to receive up to 1.5 total Category I contact education contact hours.
