Saying No When Your Kids

Ask You for Money

Encore Episode

Here is Kyle’s staff pick! She is my long-time awesome virtual assistant who helps me with all my speaking and podcast logistics. When she is not helping me out, she is juggling caregiving for her mother, camping with her husband, and keeping all her adult children in line.

It is not a surprise that her favorite Breaking Money Silence podcast pick was my interview with Carrie Rattle on how to set limits with your kids.

“I’ve always had a hard time saying ‘no’ to my kids when they ask for money. When they ask to borrow money, my mind goes to the extreme, picturing one of them homeless and destitute. Of course this is not what will happen, and this episode reminded me that you can help your kids more when you don’t give them money. Instead you need to help them find their own solutions by asking open-ended questions and believing in their ability to persevere.”

Here are the original show notes and description. I hope you enjoy this encore episode as much as I enjoyed recording it. Happy Listening! kbk

Saying ‘no’ is difficult and saying ‘no’ to your children’s financial requests can be heart wrenching. In this episode, learn how setting clear financial boundaries is vital for your health and your family’s wellbeing. Carrie Rattle, a Financial Coach and the CEO of Behavioral Cents and Stopping Overshopping, joins me to offer tips for setting financial limits with your adult children, viewing a ‘no’ as giving something to your child, not taking it away, and how having clear boundaries boosts financial confidence.
