Welcome!

Welcome!

The Italian Migration Studies Working Group (IMSWG) brings together graduate students and faculty across disciplines to unravel the nexus of language, culture, and identity in Italian transnational and migratory contexts. As of Fall 2021, the IMSWG is working in collaboration with the Yale Diversity in Italian Studies Working Group to co-host guest speaker events.

Launched by graduate students of the Italian Studies Department in 2020, the IMSWG is dedicated to fueling cross-disciplinary conversations between the Italian Studies Department and the broader scholarly community. As multinational scholars working across fields and disciplines, we encourage participation and membership across all UC Berkeley departments. See About to read more about us, and our Resources page for more on our guiding scholarship.

The working group meets approximately every month, and has announced its first Fall 2022 event, with more to follow. For more information regarding upcoming and previous meetings, head to our Events page.
