Agnes Veale

(From Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home)

Agnes Viola Veale of Springfield, MO, made the transition to Heaven on October 4, 2022. Agnes was born near Schell City, MO to her parents, Charles H. and Edna V. (Way) Lines.

Agnes lived near Schell City, and later moved to Lamar, where she met Glenn Veale at Bethany Church, where she was a member. Glenn and Agnes were married in 1954 and were together until he passed away in 1973.

Agnes remained in Lamar for several years, working at Big Smith until it closed, and then at Walmart. In 1985, Agnes moved to Springfield to assist with caring for her parents. Agnes worked in the Name and Address office at the Assemblies of God Headquarters until she retired in 1996.

During retirement she loved spending time with family and friends, as well as making crafts and participating in craft fairs. She loved being on the “go” and enjoyed traveling with her friends Carolyn Geren and June Dennis. During the CB craze her CB handle was “Gad-About.” For over 50 years Agnes coordinated the Lines Family reunion held each year in ElDorado Springs MO. Agnes was a member of Orchard Crest Baptist Church in Springfield.

A few years ago, Agnes was diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia. Even though the disease took many parts of her, she never lost her sweet spirit.

Agnes is survived by her brother, Rollie Lines, his wife Dorothy; sister, Mary Ann Stalnaker; nieces, Phyllis Lines, Tammy Stalnaker and Lisa Gregor; nephews Ronnie Lines, Kevin Lines and David Lines; three great nieces, two great nephews; and extended family and friends. The visitation will be held Friday, October 7 at 10:00 A.M. at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home, with service immediately following at 11:00 A.M. Following the service, burial will be in Howell Cemetery in Barton County MO.
