Visiting Lecturer - Persian Language

Position Summary
The Department of Central Eurasian Studies in the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies at Indiana University-Bloomington invites applications for a Visiting Lectureship position in the Persian Language, to begin in Fall 2024. The initial appointment will be for 1 year; while the initial appointment is for a single academic year, renewals are possible given satisfactory performance reviews. We are looking for an innovative and experienced Persian language pedagogue able to teach Persian language courses at all levels from beginner through post-advanced. Candidates for the position should be willing to participate in a full range of Persian language programming activities, including outreach to the community, as Persian is a language critical to the mission of Department of Education Title VI grants for several units within Indiana University. Teaching load is three courses per semester.
Basic Qualifications
A master’s degree in a relevant field, such as Persian Language pedagogy, second language acquisition, linguistics, language education. A successful candidate must possess native or near-native fluency in Persian language and fluency in English. Prior experience and demonstrated success in teaching Persian as a foreign language at the postsecondary level; familiarity with assessment and ACTFL proficiency guidelines in Persian pedagogy.

Additional Qualifications
A doctoral degree in a relevant field, such as Persian Language pedagogy, second language acquisition, linguistics, or language education. Experience developing Persian language materials, including web-based materials; experience using digital instructional technologies; experience in conducting pedagogical research on the Persian language is highly desirable, but not required.
