Tackles & Touchdowns game set for Oct. 23

10/19/2021 9:26:00 AM

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College football team will play its annual Tackles & Touchdowns game Saturday, Oct. 23 when it welcomes St. Lawrence University to Boswell Field at Urick Stadium. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.

Tackles and Touchdowns for Ability Partners Foundation was founded in 2010 by offensive lineman Jarrid Blades '12. Members of the Hobart football team have asked family, friends and fans to pledge $1 for every tackle and/or $7 for every touchdown the Statesmen score. Contributors can also make a flat rate donation. CLICK HERE for the pledge form.

This year's Tackles & Touchdowns for Ability Partners Foundation campaign is being led by defensive back Cal Sullivan and linebacker Vito Visconti.

All money raised benefits Ability Partners Foundation, in support of the programs and services of CP Rochester, Happiness House and Rochester Rehabilitation. Since 2010, Tackles and Touchdowns has raised more than $40,000 for Ability Partners Foundation. Happiness House, based in Geneva and Canandaigua, is an educational, residential, health and human service organization that excels in providing the highest quality, innovative and cost effective services to children and adults with and without disabilities through collaboration with families and partners throughout the Finger Lakes community.

Blades was honored as the 2012 Happiness House Volunteer of the Year after the first two Tackles & Touchdowns games raised more than $5,000. In the years since, three more Statesmen have earned the same honor for their efforts on behalf of Happiness House and Ability Partners Foundation, offensive lineman Michael Green '14 (2014), Patrick O'Connell III '17 (2017) and Assistant Coach Aaron Backhaus '00 (2020).

In addition to collecting donations for Ability Partners Foundation, members of the football team make visits to Happiness House to read and play games with the children.
