Hoċokata Ṫi’s (pronounced 'ho-cho-ka-ta tee' ) 3,805-square-foot public exhibit, Mdewakanton: Dwellers of the Spirit Lake, provides visitors with a cultural experience that enhances their knowledge and understanding of the Mdewakanton (pronounced 'med-ah-wah-kah-ton' ) Dakota people and their history.

Hoċokata Ṫi Named a Finalist for the National Medal for Museum and Library Service

The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) announced on March 27 that Hoċokata Ṫi is among 30 finalists for the 2024 National Medal for Museum and Library Service. Hoċokata Ṫi is the only institution in Minnesota to be selected as a finalist for this award and is also the only Native American institution among


Educator Academy

The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC), through its Understand Native Minnesota campaign, is hosting two free Educator Academy events on February 21 and March 14. These one-day events offer professional development workshops to introduce K-12 educators to a variety of ways to teach Native American topics in classroom settings.
