Biographical / Historical note:Tsuneyo Nobuyama (1894-1976) immigrated from Japan to Washington State in 1917. She was married to Gonshi Nobuyama (1888-1936). During World War II, Tsuneyo Nobuyama was incarcerated at the Tule Lake Segregation Center in California.

Summary:Photograph album (disbound prior to acquisition) likely compiled by Tsuneyo Nobuyama, circa 1920s-1970s. Depicted are Japanese and Japanese-American men, women, and children (some of whom are identified) in Washington State and Japan. Included are formal and informal portraits of individuals and groups. Multiple photographs are of funerals (both Buddhist and Christian), weddings, and other large gatherings. Nobuyama’s incarceration at the Tule Lake Segregation Center does not appear to be documented in the album.
