    • Biographical / Historical note:Komao Nobu Baba (1905-1958) of Fujikawaguchiko, Japan, moved to San Francisco, California, in 1922, graduated from the city’s Polytechnic High in 1928, and opened a produce store in Los Angeles in 1931. He married Eiko Tsujihara Baba (1914-2006) of Mountain View, California, in 1934. The couple was incarcerated at the Granada War Relocation Center (also known as Camp Amache), a Japanese-American concentration camp located in Colorado, from 1942 to 1943.
    • Summary:Photograph albums compiled by Komao Nobu Baba and Eiko Tsujihara Baba of themselves, relatives, and acquaintances, 1917-1990s. Photographs document Komao Baba's life in San Francisco; his produce store in Los Angeles; his marriage to Eiko Baba; and trips around California. With the exception of several photographs dated 1944 September (one of which is possibly of children at the Granada War Relocation Center), there do not appear to be any photographs taken between 1941 November and 1945 October. Later photographs show the Babas visiting Florida; Washington, D. C.; Wyoming; New York State; and other locations. Present throughout the album are formal and informal group and individual portraits of mostly identified individuals--there are also multiple formal photographs of weddings. 14 loose photographs are laid in to the front cover of the second album (Box 2).
