Getting a flu or COVID-19 vaccination

Vaccines are our best protection against flu and COVID-19. Over the last few years, winter vaccines have kept tens of thousands of people out of hospital and helped to save lives.

Those who are eligible are offered annual COVID-19 and flu vaccines during autumn and winter. COVID-19 boosters are also offered to some groups during spring.

People who are eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine

The following groups will be offered a COVID-19 booster vaccine during spring 2024:

  • adults aged 75 years and over
  • residents in care homes for older adults
  • individuals aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed

Eligibility for the COVID-19 booster also includes those who turn 75 years old by 30 June 2024. These people will be eligible for a vaccination at any point in the campaign. People admitted to an older adult care home or who become immunosuppressed by 30 June are also eligible.

Book your COVID-19 vaccine

If you’re eligible, you can book your appointment to get the vaccine by visiting NHS – book, cancel or change a COVID-19 vaccination appointment.

If you cannot book online you can book over the phone by calling 119 free of charge.  You can speak to a translator if needed.

A local NHS service may also contact you, such as your GP surgery, to get a vaccine for you or your child. This is usually done by text or a phone call, but you may sometimes get a letter or a notification in the NHS App.

You will be able to get the vaccine from your own practice if you’re registered with:

  • Richmond Road Medical Practice
  • Elsdale Street Surgery
  • Lower Clapton Group Practice
  • Latimer Health Centre

If you’re registered at other GPs, you will be invited to book at Richmond Road or via a number of local pharmacies.
