This is a great and well deserved honour for Prof Obioma  Nnaemeka.

Almost as wide ranging  as this hugely  amazing  world conference she convened at  UNN in 1992 (30 years ago-attended by such respected minds as  Late Flora Nwapa), she has shown such a broad and amazing scholarship herself  that would lead her to this height. 

When honor is nearly a humour in our part of the world - Who honors who and why  and where remains an important aspect of honor! This is a great honour by a great institution! Her scholarship and contributions shows this range of wide breath that would locate her for this honour. 

You will be  dazzled by the  awe and respect Professor Nnaemeka  has  for  other intellectuals herself  as she illustrated with her idea of VY Mudimbe- in an encounter over a decade ago. You will instantly approve that this is a very unassuming great mind herself. 

Congratulations Professor-beta tin no dey hide!

Prof Nnaemeka's honour inspires me also to announce that whoever is in a position to see that the picture of Flora Nwapa is made available to the authorities of Center for African Studies, University of Edinburgh -should assist to do this. It was very  inspiring seeing  that this legendary writer is  listed among other respected African  Alumni of the institution such as Julius Nyerere. However, while others had their pictures displayed in their column, her name bore no  picture of hers apparently because it was not available.
