Ready to Engage?: Developing a Learning + Action Agenda to Conduct Culturally Responsive and Racial Equity Evaluation

The Northeastern University Public Evaluation Lab (NU-PEL) and the Greater Boston Evaluation Network (GEBN) will be co-hosting our 3rd virtual event in our Culturally Responsive Evaluation (CRE) series. 

As our world calls for evaluation that is multiculturally valid, honors the multiple truths of a range of communities, and is in service of equitable change, many evaluators are seeking to bridge theory to practice in their work. This 90-minute interactive learning session creates the environment for attendees enhance their reflective practice and draft a learning + action agenda to apply what they are learning about culturally responsive and racial equity evaluation.

Participants will:

  1. Debrief individual results from MPHI's How Culturally Responsive is My Practice? self-assessment.
  2. Discuss results within the contexts of their evaluands, evaluation teams, and organizations
  3. Crowdsource resources and draft outlines of their own customized Learning + Action Agenda for Conducting Evaluation Using a Culturally Responsive and Racial Equity Lens

You must register for the event to receive the online meeting information. On the registration form, there are 3 basic demographic questions that are optional to answer. You may choose to skip those questions. Your answers to the registration questions will not be shared outside of the presenter. Dr. Mindelyn Anderson and the Mirror Group asks these questions for those to reflect on who they are as part of the self-assessment process. 

We are fortunate to have Mindelyn Anderson, PhD lead us in this learning session. 

Mindelyn Anderson, PhD

For 20 years, Dr. Anderson has researched social inequality and stratification, race and migration, education and social mobility, and health. Prior to founding Mirror Group, Mindelyn served as the Program Director of the Master’s of Science in Measurement and Evaluation at American University, Honors Faculty in Residence and Assistant Professor of Sociology and African American Studies at Northeastern University, and Marilyn Yarbrough Fellow at Kenyon College. Her scholarship has been supported by sponsors including the National Science Foundation, National Endowment for the Humanities, and National Institutes of Health. Dr. Anderson has also held fellowships at American Institutes for Research and Mathematica Policy Research. She has conducted evaluations with and provided technical assistance and training for philanthropic, community-based, regional, national and international non-profit, for-profit, and educational organizations. Her utilization- focused, participatory evaluation practice is informed by Culturally-Responsive and Racial Equity Evaluation and values equity, systems change, and transformation as integral components of high quality consulting. In addition to leading evaluation, learning, and strategy at Mirror Group she currently serves as Program Co-Chair of the American Evaluation Association Independent Consulting Topical Interest Group, Washington Evaluators' Co-Coordinator of Evaluators Without Borders, and Reviewer for the American Journal of Evaluation. Mindelyn’s happy place is co-creating the art and science of making data and evaluation meaningful, accessible, and actionable with learning organizations and the communities we at Mirror Group love!
