We are Friends in Europe
We establish international contacts and fill the town twinning of the town of Rheine with life. The task of the Town Twinning Association is to actively shape the twinning of the town of Rheine with Borne (Netherlands), Bernburg (Germany), Leiria (Portugal) and Trakai (Lithuania) and to promote friendly exchange and togetherness between citizens. Many meetings and friendships between individuals, organisations, groups and clubs from Rheine and the twin towns help to maintain and intensify contacts.
In order to make the value of European cooperation clear, especially to young people, an annual exchange of youth ambassadors is organised with Lithuania and Portugal. There is also an annual exchange of school groups and a cultural exchange with Leiria. There is also a primary school exchange with the Dutch twin town of Borne.
