Are you interested in giving your students more hands-on STEM learning opportunities? Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and learn more about algae? If so, please join us at the Algae Foundation’s Summer Algae Science Institute hosted by Santa Fe Community College in Santa Fe, NM.

SASI is a 2-day professional development opportunity facilitated by Algae Academy alumni that walks educators through the Algae Foundation’s K-12 Algae Academy curriculum. The Algae Academy’s FREE STEM kit and curriculum includes teacher resources, all necessary lab supplies, and live algae that will have your students asking big questions as they realize the real potential of algae. Students cultivate algae, monitor its growth, analyze and interpret data, and make connections as to how algae production has a positive impact on the global environment. Or as we like to say, we take algae from “Ick!” to “Awesome!”

Algae Academy is appropriate for K-12 STEM educators with NGSS aligned curriculum broken down into Elementary, Middle and High School levels. SASI participants will have the opportunity to teach the Algae Academy to their students in the 2022/2023 academic year in the Fall (October) or Spring (March).

SASI training will include:
- Curriculum and lab instruction from Algae Academy alumni eucator
- Opportunity to hear from industry insiders and gain more in-depth background knowledge
- Visit to SFCC algae cultivation green house
- Stipend for attendance
- I Love Algae T-shirt (the really soft kind)
- Guaranteed spot in 2022/2023 Algae Academy
