What is National Honor Society
The National Honor Society (NHS) is America’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. Family Partnership Charter School NHS develops those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921. In order to be a member of NHS, you must be willing to commit to monthly meetings and service opportunities. As you complete this form, please take this into consideration. The purpose of the National Honor Society is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to render service, promote leadership, and develop character. The Family Partnership Charter School Chapter of the National Honor Society promotes appropriate recognition for students who reflect outstanding accomplishments in these areas. FPCS NHS will provide many opportunities to develop all of the four pillars of NHS, Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.
If you’re accepted in the National Honor Society, we expect you to attend group meetings, service projects, and activities throughout the year and for as long as you’re in NHS. To become a member of NHS, you must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50, 15 hours of community service in the last year, and be selected upon completion of candidacy packet.
Once selected members will have the responsibility to demonstrate the qualities of a NHS student. You must maintain a grade point average of 3.5 and attend all chapter meetings (usually 6-8 times per year), as well as any group service projects chosen by the chapter (usually 1-2 per year). You must also attend and be of service at the annual induction. Dues of $20.00 are collected each year. Service to our school and community is a large part of any NHS chapter and are intended to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals, the school, and the community. Members must be willing to complete 15 hours of community service each year.
