Spring 2021:  When Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) begins returning students to hybrid learning this spring, daily procedures will be very different than they have been in the past. This document outlines the health, safety, and behavior expectations and procedures now in place for all hybrid learners.  NOTE:  Parents/Guardians must fill out an individual Hybrid Learning Agreement for each one of their AACPS students.
AACPS school staff will be responsible for the following conditions:
•Staff will read, review, and follow the [ www.aacps.org/safetyprotocols ] AACPS COVID-related safety protocols in effect for hybrid learning.

•Staff will be responsible for completing a daily personal screening of COVID-19 like symptoms (in alignment with Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene guidelines) prior to coming to school and for wearing masks at all times while with students in school and on school grounds.

•High-touch interior surfaces that students will be in contact with in the classroom and restrooms will be disinfected with an approved disinfecting agent throughout each school day and thoroughly on Wednesday and Friday evening.

•Students will be directed to space accordingly to offer appropriate social distancing between students inside and outside school buildings.  Students’ desks will be placed at appropriate distances from one another in the classrooms where students will be learning.

•Staff will support students in navigating the hallways, classrooms, lunchtime, and recess or socialization time while following all health and safety precautions, including social distancing, hand washing or hand sanitizing, and mask wearing unless a student has an approved mask accommodation.

•Staff will ensure that students follow the AACPS health and safety guidelines, including offering verbal reminders, calling home, and asking for administrative support when needed. The Student Code of Conduct will be followed.

Parents/Guardians and students will be responsible for adhering to the following processes or procedures:
•Parents/Guardians will read, review, and follow the AACPS COVID-related safety protocols [ www.aacps.org/safetyprotocols ] in effect for hybrid learning. Acknowledgements
•I understand and acknowledge that COVID-19 is a public health risk, and that AACPS cannot guarantee my child’s safety or immunity from infection.  At present, there is no vaccination for children for COVID-19.  The mode by which COVID-19 is transmitted, or how long it remains on surfaces, is not entirely known.  With full appreciation of these facts, I voluntarily agree to allow my child to return to school for hybrid learning.

•I understand that guidance from the CDC, state or local health authorities, and AACPS may change, and I will be required to adhere to those changes.  I understand that my child and I are responsible for following all COVID-19 related health and safety protocols in effect, such as social distancing, completing a daily wellness screening, hand washing, and the appropriate use of face coverings, as established by this Acknowledgement.

•I further acknowledge and agree that I will not put my child on the bus or transport them to school if they are presenting with COVID-19 like symptoms.  I will also promptly notify my child’s principal if my child exhibits symptoms as described on the symptoms checklist or tests positive for COVID-19.
