DSU Civil Rights Trip - Emmett Till Memorial Service, Sunday, August 28, 2022
Delta State University's Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Division of Social Sciences and History is hosting an opportunity to attend a
community memorial service for Emmett Till. This is a FREE trip for Delta State students.
Logistics:
- 8:45 AM - All DSU participants meet at the steps of the Union on the Quad. We will briefly discuss the day's plans and sign the liability waivers.
- 9 AM - Depart DSU.
- 10 AM - Participate in the memorial service hosted by We2gether Creating Change, the Emmett Till Interpretive Center, and other organizations. Part of the memorial service will be a processional (by vehicle) to the barn outside of Drew where Emmett Till was murdered. There will also be a community reception afterwards in Drew.
- 1 PM - We should be back in Cleveland at Delta State. A shared brunch at the DSU cafeteria is included, and we will debrief about our experiences.
A cooler with cold water bottles will be provided in the van for all DSU participants.
We will be traveling by DSU van - capacity is 10 students.
